Beach Weekend ~ July 08

I had a workshop in Williamsburg on Thursday, JULY 17. So, Marty picked up Charlie from "school" and met me at the famous Pierce's Barbecue for dinner...yum! From there Marty headed home and Charlie and I set off for the beach. Of course we got caught in traffic and it took us 3 HOURS to get to our exit at the beach. I managed to keep the little man awake long enough to go to the grocery store for some necessary items and to help me unload all of our stuff. He was a perfect little helper.

We used Grandma's wagon to take all the groceries up to the condo.

On Friday we went for a nice long walk; all the way to the Virginia Beach pier. We came home, got cleaned up, and headed for the beach.

What a blast! We built sandcastles, splashed in the surf, had a picnic lunch and played until Charlie finally said, "I'm ready to go back to Grandma's and take a nap."

I somehow encouraged him to go get some ice cream first; then we went back to rest.

The Bost Beach Bungalow looks out over the intrance to Rudee Inlet and we can see boats in the nearby marina. When Charlie woke from his nap he wanted to go see the boats. So, momma obliged. One gentleman from the "Virginian" showed Charlie pictures of all the fish they caught that day. He thought that was really neat and commented, "whoa, dats a big fish." We continued down the pier and a sweet lady on the "Iggy Biggy" sailboat took a liking to Charlie. She let us come aboard and Charlie even got to take the helm.

Daddy arrived as we were coming back from the marina. We had a wonderful dinner of Charlie's favorite, shrimp, and sat out on the patio. What a beautiful view.

On Saturday Marty was ready to hit the beach. We got an early start and he and Charlie had a great time building a masterpiece. Then it was time to bury Charlie in the sand...he loved it!

We got caugt in a downpour on the way back to the condo; arg!

Sunday was more of the same. Sun, Sand and Surf! Charlie made a friend and they had a great time chasing each other around the shoreline. We culminated the weekend with one last trip to the ice cream parlor...It was truly a fabulous weekend.

Short Cuts

No, not directionally...I took the plunge and cut my hair; really short.

I took a photo with my cell and sent it to my mom in Florida; I called her at home to tell her to check her cell and she screamed...really loud!

Take a look...

Fourth of July & The Tomato Festival

We had a great July 4, 2008. We went to the river for a day of fun. Marty and Charlie had a blast fishing and riding on the jet skis. This was the first time Charlie has ever been on the skis.

Momma enjoyed being over-protective and highly anal about all the "fun" on the dock. I was able to get my little man to take a break just long enough to snap a quick photo.

It was a beautiful day; although we did get some rain and ended up having our sundaes in the house. It was so nice to spend the day with our loved ones.

TOMATO FESTIVAL 2008

We live in Hanover County Virginia and our biggest claim to fame, other than being the birth place of Patrick Henry..."give me liberty or give me death"...is our tomatoes. So, to celebrate the arrival of this luscious fruit we have a festival. It's big fun...petting zoo, pony rides, big slides, more kid rides, lots of vendors, and tomatoes, tomatoes, tomatoes...miss tomato festival, best dressed tomato...fried tomatoes, BLTs...it's tomato heaven!

Here are some pics from the day:
